Eliot Porter – The Great Colorist

The usually helpful Wikipedia isn’t so helpful on this one – “Eliot Furness Porter (December 6, 1901 – November 2, 1990) was an America photographer best known for his color photographs of nature…Around 1930 he was introduced to Ansel Adams by a friend of the family and to Alfred Stieglitz by his brother Fairfield Porter. He was also a friend of Stieglitz’s wife, the painter Georgia O’Keeffe.”
While you’re contemplating what a dinner party with this group might have been like, here are some of Eliot Porter’s subtle, glorious color images.
